Chapter Fraud Training Seminars

Dates/Times:
We meet on the second Wednesday of February, April, and August of each year from 2:30–4:45 p.m. This includes a half-hour networking session at approximately 3:30p.m. Unless otherwise stated, all fraud training seminars are held in the Training Room on the 28th Floor of the Washington State Housing Finance Commission’s offices (see location information below).
April 14, 2010 (second Wednesday)
The Chapter has not yet announced the topic for this fraud training seminar. However, the speaker will be Guido van Drunen, Managing Director, KPMG in Seattle.

August 11, 2010 (second Wednesday)
The Chapter has not yet announced the topic or speaker for this fraud training seminar.
Location:
Normally, we meet in downtown Seattle at 1000 Second Avenue in the 28th floor training room of the Washington State Housing Finance Commission's offices. This training facility is in the old Key Towers Bank Building, but the building does not have a name on it. It is located across the street and one block North of the Jackson Federal Building (corner of Second Avenue and Spring Street).

Parking:
If you’re looking for automobile parking, Special Events parking rates (approximately $6) usually apply for the parking garage at Benaroya Hall, just two blocks North of the training facility on Second Avenue.

CPE:
The training includes 2 hours of CPE.

Costs:
The cost of each two-hour fraud seminar is $20 for Chapter members and $25 for non-Chapter members. There is no cost for students members who attend these seminars.

Register at the door.

Other Info:
Attendees should report directly to the training room and sign-in for all fraud seminars. There are no special sign-in procedures for use of the building.

Chapter Annual Luncheon and Business Meeting

Date/Time:
June 9, 2010 (second Wednesday). The luncheon begins promptly at noon, followed by a brief Chapter annual business meeting. The fraud training seminar begins at approximately 1:00 p.m. and lasts for one hour.

Location:
Bahama Breeze Restaurant; 15700 SouthCenter Parkway, Tukwila, WA 98188; (206) 241-4448. (In the SouthCenter Mall parking lot near the I-5 and I-405 interchange)

Parking:
There is free parking near the restaurant.

CPE:
1 hour of CPE.

Costs:
The luncheon and continuing professional education for the fraud seminar is $10 for Chapter members and $15 for non-members.

ACFE 21st Annual Fraud Conference and Exhibition

Dates/Times:
July 25-30, 2009 (Sunday to Friday).

Pre-Conference
Sunday - usually 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m.

Main Conference
Monday and Tuesday - usually 8:30a.m. to 4:50p.m.
Wednesday - usually 8:30a.m. to 12:30p.m.

Post-Conference
Thursday and Friday - usually 8:30a.m. to 4:50p.m.

Location:
The conference will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Washington, D.C. on the Maryland side of the Potomac River just south of the I-95, I-395, and I-295 interchange (the first exit east of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge).

Parking:
The Convention Center has a designated parking garage. However, the cost of parking is not known at this time.

CPE:
The full conference includes up to 40 hours of continuing professional education credit.

Costs:
Costs vary from $55 to $1,695 depending on which events you choose to attend.

Other Info:
ACFE Chapter President Joe Dervaes attends the ACFE Foundation's Board of Directors meeting and Vice-President Norm Gierlasinski attends the Chapter Representatives Meeting. Both of these meetings take place on Sunday, July 25, 2010.

Joint ACFE and Chapter Fraud Classes

Date/Times:
October 21-22, 2010 (Thursday and Friday)
Class times are usually 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. each training day. Class registration begins at 7:30a.m.

Location:
We meet at the DoubleTree Hotel, 18740 International Boulevard, in SeaTac (across the street from SeaTac International Airport).

Parking:
There is a $8 daily parking fee if you drive your car and park in the hotel parking lot. Car pooling is recommended to reduce your cost of parking.

CPE:
16 hours of CPE.

Costs:
2010 fees are $695 for ACFE MEmbers and $845 for Non-Members.

Speaker Info:
The topic of this seminar will be Interviewing Techniques for Auditors.

Other Info:
The mid-October fraud class or classes are jointly sponsored by the ACFE and the Chapter. The ACFE sets the fees for these classes, and the actual training dates vary each year.

Joint WSCPA and Chapter Annual Fraud Conference

Dates/Times:
December 3, 2010 (Friday). The Conference begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. Sign in for registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

Location:
The conference will be held at the Meydenbauer Center, 11100 N.E. 6th Street, Bellevue,WA 98004.

Parking:
The Meydenbauer Center has a parking garage. The all-day parking fee is $14 while attending the Conference. Carpooling is recommended to reduce your cost of parking.

CPE:
The Conference includes 8 hours of continuing professional education credit.

Costs:
In 2009, the rates were $220 for WSCPA Members (Discount of $75) and $295 for Non-Members. The registration fee has not yet been set for 2010.

Registration Info:
Registration is managed by the WSCPA. If you are a CPA, you may register for the Conference on the official WSCPA web site and receive the member discounted registration fee. If you are a CFE, you must call the WSCPA at 1-800-272-8273 in order to receive the member discounted registration fee for the Conference. The Chapter has not yet announced the number of sessions, speakers, or topics for the 2010 Conference.

Other Info:
The WSCPA/CFE Chapter Annual Fraud Conference is jointly sponsored by the WSCPA and the Chapter. The Chapter makes all of the arrangements for Conference speakers, and the WSCPA handles all other administrative tasks associated with the Conference. ACFE Chapter President Joe Dervaes and Vice-President Norm Gierlasinski co-chair the Conference.
